EJ Churchill XXV

This is a very nice original condition gun showing much of its original case colors, barrel bluing and stock finish. It is a field model sidelock made in the late 30’s and is the No. 1 gun in what was orignally a pair. It has been owned and cared for by a local surgeon who is a serious gun collector and wingshooter.

The Churchill XXV is one of the most famous of the English guns of the 20th century. Invented by Robert Chuchill in support of his instinctive shooting style of instruction, the gun was built with the unique Churchill tapered rib. This innovation gives the shooter the sighting plane of longer barrels on a short tube gun; thus mimicing the feel of a 30″ gun. But because of the shorter barrels the gun had better balance as the weight is “between the hands”. These guns were very popular with shooters of smaller stature and of course bird shooters love the liveliness of the guns.

A lovely gun with vivid original case colors made in the desirable “between the wars” era.

There are a few small handling marks on the barrels we have attempted to show in the pictures.
